'AS YOU WRITE IT'

ROLE: Writer.

A few years ago, I won a BBC national playwriting competition: 'As You Write It'.

The writing process was covered by The One Show, and my work recieved recognition by industry professionals such as Lin Manuel-Miranda and Sir Ian Mckellen.

My play 'All The World's A Stage' was the first to be staged at the Shakespeare North Playhouse when it opened in 2022. Please see below for more information.

WRITING

I wrote a thirty-minute long play called 'All The World's A Stage'. Set in 21st century Liverpool, the play follows a young girl (Rose) as she writes a play with her imaginary friend: William Shakespeare.

Meanwhile, she overcomes the death with her mother and attempts to reconnect with her distant father, all while coping with Shakespeare's interest (and limited patience) with modern life in Liverpool.

The competition was ran by the BBC's The One Show, and judged by industry professionals such as Frank Cottrell Boyce (24 Hour Party People, Millions) and Evan Placey (The Bay).

The play was the first to be staged at the Shakespeare North Playhouse when it opened in 2022, followed by two other plays which won in different age categories. My work on this project was also recognised by writers and actors such as Lin-Manuel-Miranda (Hamilton, Moana) and Sir Ian Mckellen (Lord of the Rings, X-Men).

For more information, please see an interview I did with The Guide: Liverpool here.

Here is some excerpts of the play.

(Contains clips from readthroughs, the play itself and a scene filmed with actors by the BBC).
